Remember feeling triggered? And then how the person in front of you suddenly lost their uniqueness and subjectivity, and became an object of your dysregulation and discomforts?? This is a dynamic situation that many try to resolve with "empathy", however, empathy is an embodied maintenance of the other as subject, not an object. Remember, tools make for great technicians but not necessarily for spacious listeners who can afford to make room for the way another is making sense of their reality :)
